Apathy....meh

So I just had a class today which was cancelled due to snow.  Anyways, my course consists of 4 credits which is basically a $900 course.  This semester only has 10 classes for that course but only 9 after the cancelled course from today.  Anyways, money issues aside, one thing that bugs me about University or even school in general is the widespread apathetic attitudes displayed towards their field of study.  While I agree that some students are just taking this course as an elective, most are taking it towards their field of study which is something they should at least have somewhat of an interest in.  It wasn't even 15 minutes into class with the professor being a no-show and the students were already opting to leave class but must ensure that they have their attendance written down for the "participation grade".  What shocked me the most was the most of the students there had no objection over the idea of leaving.  It was as if they wanted to leave and had better things to do.  Not to sound like a nerd for loving school but I thought we are already past the times where "giving any fucks about school makes you uncool" considering that it is a 3rd year level course.

Anyways, I just had to rant about the topic of apathy because nowadays, a undergraduate university degree is almost mandatory in order to at least find a job that can pay for your basic needs.  Unfortunately, many people just want results and do not give a flying fuck about the process as exemplified by the piece of paper that will lay dormant while you look back at how much of a debt you have gotten yourself into as a result of that thin piece of paper.
